What to Expect During Your First Phone Consultation with Archadeck of Raleigh, Durham, and the Greater Triangle

A phone conversation is the first step in designing and building your customized outdoor living project with Archadeck. Whether you found us online, heard about us on the radio, or another client recommended us, an initial phone call allows us to introduce ourselves to you personally, learn what you are seeking, and determine how we may be of help. It also allows us to plan strategically for the next step in our design and build process, which is a design consultation visit at your home.

You may request an initial phone consultation by calling us directly (919-973-1523) or submitting a request using the contact form on our website homepage. Your first phone call will likely be with Nikki Castro, the production assistant for Archadeck of Raleigh, Durham, and the Greater Triangle. Nikki will spend a few minutes with you to collect some basic information and determine what kind of outdoor living project you have in mind.

Desired project

During this first phone conversation, Nikki will ask some questions to get a better idea of what kind of project you are seeking. She may ask: What type of new outdoor living space would you like to create? How will you use your new space? Where will the new structure be located in relation to your home? What currently exists in your backyard? These types of questions help us understand the scope of your project and consider what may work best for you. When we know a little more about your project in advance, we can better prepare the material suggestions and project samples we will bring on the home visit. If you know the dimensions of your existing structure, that will help our preparations as well.

Design Consultation follow up call

After the initial phone call, Nikki will forward your contact information to one of our design consultants. The design consultant will follow up with a phone call to ask some more detailed questions and schedule an initial visit.

The design consultant will discuss the following with you:

Desired timeline

When would you like for your project to be completed? Is there a special date or an upcoming event driving your plans? Whenever possible, we try to accommodate our clients’ desired timelines. However, there are many factors that affect scheduling. For example, if your home is in a community with a Homeowner’s Association, we will need to wait until you get their approval. Also, depending on the project, we may need to apply for and receive building permits. We also have to coordinate with our crews’ busy schedules (spring and summer are the busiest seasons) and work around inclement weather. It is important for us to know your expectations and to share with you what is reasonable to expect.

Budget

What is your approximate budget? Knowing your budget is critical information for setting the scope of the project. Outdoor living designs are limitless when it comes to materials, dimension, and add-ons, and a budget will help focus our conversation on a project that meets your financial goals. For example, two decks of similar size can vary in cost by a few or many thousand dollars depending on the type of decking, railings, lighting, and other detail work. One of the key benefits of working with Archadeck of Raleigh-Durham is that we are a custom builder. We have the ability to design and build a unique and stunning project for you that aligns your design dreams, functional goals, and budget.

Scheduling the in-person design consultation

When is a good time for us to meet with you in person? Your Archadeck Design Consultant will schedule an in-person design consultation at your home. This meeting can take anywhere from 1-2 hours to make sure we obtain all the necessary details about your goals, wants, and needs while sharing design materials, plans, and images for your inspiration. It also allows us to take pictures and measurements of your home and the building area to create an accurate custom design. It is important to schedule this meeting when all decision-makers can be present so we can get a complete picture of what your household wants and minimize the number of follow-up meetings required.

The Archadeck process

What are you looking for in a contractor? Before we complete our phone consultation, we will review the rest of the Archadeck process with you. Our goal is to be clear about what you can expect from the in-person design consultation, follow-up design proposal meeting, contract signing, and construction start. We’ll also answer any questions you may have about the process, payment options, and typical project timeframes so you can have a clear understanding of what the Archadeck process is from start to finish. At Archadeck, our top priorities are providing you the highest level of customer service, customized design, and quality building in outdoor living construction.
